About Ms Diaz
So who is Ms. Diaz really?
Greetings, Ms. Diaz here! I have had the privilege of teaching science at Discovery Charter School since January 2019. Outside of science, my passion in life is travel. I've traveled to all continents except Antarctica and have visited 35 countries. Aside from USA and the Philippines (my country of birth), I have lived in Scotland, Germany, Wales and Italy. My favorite adventure so far is having hiked 500 miles from the South of France to the West coast of Spain in 33 days. My next planned adventure is to backpack through Peru, Chile, and Bolivia for one month.
I've been lucky enough to have experienced working in the science industry and research/academia, and have engaged students of all ages with science. My main teaching duties before DCS were at Cardiff University, where I was a graduate teaching assistant and project supervisor for undergraduates working in the Brain Repair Group. While living in the UK, I was also a STEM ambassador and visited schools throughout the country, promoting an interest in science. I am an avid supporter of the Stroke Association and research on neurological and cerebrovascular disease. Last few fun facts about me...I am a wedding officiant for the state of California, I love watching soccer (been to FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014), and enjoy playing my guitar and flute, and learning new languages.
